Die fürstliche Kammer wurde von 1899 - 1907 von dem zuvor in Schleswig als Regierungspräsident tätigen Rudolf Grisebach geleitet. Obwohl Kammerpräsident, bewohnte er eine schlichte Wohnung am Schloß. Gute nahe Verwandtschaft und ein freundlicher Dienstherr jedoch bewirkten, daß sich dies nach drei Dienstjahren änderte. Zur Familie gehörte nämlich auch ein Architekt: Hans Grisebach, der durch den Kammerpräsidenten zu gutem Ruf und zahlreichen Aufträgen gekommen war. Zunächst aber versorgte er im fürstlichen Auftrag die eigene Verwandschaft...

Yesterday until today

The royal chamber was run from 1899 until 1907 by the former acting government president of Schleswig Rudolf Grisebach. Although he was the board president he lived in a simple apartment at the castle. After three years of service, good and close relatives and a friendly superior authority meant for this to change. An architect called Hans Grisebach belonged to the family, who had come to a good reputation and many contracts due to his relation to the chambers president. On behalf of a princely contract he took care of his own relative….

Anno 1893

1893
Seit jenem Jahr, wie am Giebel des Hauses noch heute zu lesen ist, präsentiert sich im Neo- barockstil die Dienstwohnung, die von nun an für den jeweiligen fürstlichen Kammerpräsiden- ten reserviert war. Gleich nach Fertigstellung bewohnte als erster Rudi Grisebach das Haus.


1907
Übernahme durch Kammerpräsident Ernst Lohmann.

Übernahme durch Kammerpräsident Gustav Kleindorff.

1929
Im Oktober 1929 verließ die fürstliche Familie das Schloß. Erbprinz Botho, der 1929 das Stammgut vom Vater übernommen hatte, zog in die einstige Kammerpräsidenten- villa. In diesen Jahren, die bis 1945 andauerten, erblühte die Villa in schönster kunst- voller Pracht zum Erbprinzenpalais, da Prinz Botho eine bedeutende Gemäldesamm- lung erworben hatte und sie hier ausstellte. Sie blieb auch an Ort und Stelle zurück als Prinz Botho und Fürstin Renate kurz vor dem Eintreffen der sowjetischen Besatzungs- macht am 01.07.1945 auf den in der Grafschaft Gedern gelegenen Teil ihres Stammgutes umzogen.

Die Ölgemälde die jetzt im Erbprinzenpalais zu sehen sind , sind Kopien
vom Senior des Hauses und stehen auch zum Verkauf. Die russische Kommandantur übernimmt das Haus bis in das Jahr 1956.


1956
Die 1946 gegründete SED Kreisleitung zieht aus dem ehemaligen Gewerkschaftshotel „Monopol“( später dann „Haus der Einheit“) in die Lindenallee 27. Die während der Bodenreform enteignete fürstliche Villa wurde von nun an Sitz der SED-Kreisleitung. Inmitten der schönen Gartenanlage hinein, wurde eine Baracke gebaut, um allen Mitarbeitern Platz zu bieten.


Februar 1990
An der Pforte klingelt Fürst Christian Henrich zu Stolberg - Wernigerode. Ihm wurde geöffnet, sein Wunsch nach eigener Begegnung mit dem damaligen Hausbesitzer ( PDS ) erfüllt. Der PDS - Kreisvorsitzende führte seinen Gast durch alle Räume. Der eine betrat das Haus seiner Eltern und seiner Jugend, der andere fragte sich wohl, wie lange er hier noch bleiben dürfe. In den folgenden Jahren wurde das Haus als Arbeitsamt genutzt.


1996
Nach entsprechender Ausschreibung erwirbt die Fam. Schmidt aus Gommern die Immobilie. Im August 1996 beginnen bereits die Umbauarbeiten zu einem modernen Hotelbetrieb. Hohe Investitionen waren erforderlich, um das alte  Flair des Hauses mit den neuen Anforderungen zu verbinden. Als Vorlage dienen Originalzeichnungen aus dem Jahre 1893 und Hinweise des Fürsten Christian Henrich zu Stolberg.


Frühjahr 1997
Das familiär geführte Hotel „Erbprinzenpalais“ öffnet seine Pforten.

1893

From this year on, as you are still able to read at the gable of the house, the government apartment presents itself in the neo-baroque style and was reserved for the respective royal chamber president. Rudi Grisebach was the first to inhabit the house, immediately after its completion

1907

It was taken over by the Chamber President Ernst Lohmann.

1921

It was taken over by the Chamber President Gustav Klein Dorff.

1929

In October 1929 the royal family left the palace. Prince Botho, who had taken the heritage of his father moved into the villa of the former chamber presidents. During the following years which lasted until 1945 the villa blossomed in the most magnificent way and became the Erbprinzenpalais (palace of the prince by heritage). Prince Botho had acquired a significant collection of paintings and exhibited them here. This art collection remained at the Erbprinzenpalais as Prince Botho and princess Renate left on the 01.07.1945 and moved to a part of the county Gedern belonging to their heritage; shortly before the arrival of the Soviet occupying force.

The oil-paintings exhibited now at the Erbprinzenpalais are copies from the senior house and are also available for sale.

The Russian commander took over the house until 1956.

1956

The SED district leadership founded in the year 1946 moved from the former union hotel “Monopoly” (later called the “House of Unity”) into 27 Lindenallee. The princely villa which was expropriated during the land reform became the new seat of the SED leadership. A barrack was built in the middle of the beautiful garden plant to host all employees.

February 1990

Prince Christian Henrich of Stolberg-Wernigerode rang the bell at the gate. It was opened and his wish to meat the current homeowner (PDS) was granted. The PDS- district chairman led his guests through all the rooms. One person entered the house of his parents and his youth while the other person most probably wondered how long he would be allowed to stay on. During the following years the house was used as an employment office.

1996

The Schmidt family from Gommern bought the property after the invitation to tender.  The building work converting the property into a modern hotel started already during August 1996. High investments were needed to combine the old ambience of the house with its new requirements. Original drawings from the year 1893 and detailed information of Prince Henrich of Stolberg serve as template.

Spring 1997

The opening of the family-run hotel “Erbprinzenpalais”.
